The sole means of finding them involved the assistance of numerous so-called managers, along with any available connections and bribery. A multitude of official documents had to be completed, often requiring considerable effort. Despite relentless hard work, success was not guaranteed. The prevailing opinion among authorities was that these young, attractive girls, in the prime of their lives, would unlikely return, regardless of the circumstances. Fortunately, over time, travel options have improved, and the elimination of the visa requirement has allowed a steady stream of Ukrainian models to flow into the West without any opposition.

Stefan Soell has the following remarks about his models: These girls belong to a generation that has faced challenging circumstances. In those days, every improvement in living standards, whether it be in terms of better food, improved employment opportunities, or a modest enhancement in personal comfort, had to be fought for. I have always been deeply impressed by the mental toughness and resilience of these Ukrainian girls. They possess an extraordinary determination and unwavering spirit that sets them apart.
