For a decade, the Prix Pictet has been inviting artists to explore diverse themes related to sustainability. Over the past ten years, approximately 4,200 photographers have submitted over 28,000 images to the jury, and the public has had the opportunity to view 92 exhibitions in 40 cities worldwide. Each of the seven cycles has unearthed powerful images that address today's significant environmental, societal, and cultural challenges.
Featuring the work of all winning photographers to date, including Benoit Aquin, Nadav Kander, Mitch Epstein, Luc Delahaye, Michael Schmidt, Valerie Belin, and Richard Mosse, as well as many of the shortlisted artists, "ten" is a celebration of the exceptional photography showcased by the Prix Pictet over the past decade.
Through a carefully curated selection of compelling images, readers embark on a poignant visual journey, venturing into a world defined by our complex relationship with our environment. The photographs, some of which have not been previously published or exhibited by the Prix Pictet, are diverse in nature, ranging from photojournalistic to conceptual. They collectively tell a powerful story of some of the most critical problems facing modern society.
The images are organized into twelve themes, each addressing a specific aspect of sustainability. From environmental degradation to social inequality, from climate change to cultural heritage, these photographs provide a deep insight into the multifaceted challenges we face today.
By showcasing the work of these talented photographers, "ten" aims to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and inspire action. It serves as a reminder that our actions can have a profound impact on the world we live in and that we all have a role to play in creating a more sustainable future.
Whether you are an art enthusiast, a concerned citizen, or simply someone who appreciates the power of visual storytelling, "ten" is a must-see exhibition that offers a unique perspective on the world we live in.
