The Archaeological Excavations in the Castel Corno Caves present the captivating findings of two distinct excavation campaigns conducted at a prehistoric archaeological site nestled within a deep cave in Trentino Alto Adige, Italy. These excavations unearthed a multitude of tombs nestled within the cave's depths, as well as the remnants of an ancient settlement situated outside. The significance of this site lies in its remarkable preservation of artifacts, animal, and human bones, a testament to the cave's profound depth. Despite the damage inflicted by grave robbers, a substantial amount of data was successfully recovered, allowing for a partial reconstruction of human activity in this region.

Within the tombs, the remains of seven individuals were carefully excavated. Radiocarbon dating has revealed that these tombs can be traced back to the end of the Copper Age and the beginning of the Early Bronze Age, spanning from the 25th to the 21st centuries BC. However, it is noteworthy that the site remained occupied for ritual and settlement purposes until the end of the Early Bronze Age, approximately between the 18th and 17th centuries BC.

These excavations have shed light on the rich tapestry of human history, providing valuable insights into the lives and customs of ancient civilizations. The meticulous preservation of the artifacts and bones has allowed researchers to piece together a detailed picture of the past, offering a glimpse into the daily lives and cultural practices of the people who once inhabited this remarkable site.

The Archaeological Excavations in the Castel Corno Caves continue to be a source of fascination and discovery, offering a window into the depths of our past and contributing to our understanding of the rich cultural heritage of this region.
