The Blank Theatre's Young Playwrights Festival (YPF), established in 1992, carries on the legacy of The Blank by nurturing the creative talents of young individuals aged 9 to 19. Each year, a distinguished Selection Committee comprising esteemed entertainment professionals convenes to select the top 12 exceptional plays from hundreds of submissions received nationwide. These winning young playwrights are granted the invaluable opportunity to receive mentorship from accomplished working writers, culminating in a fully staged production over a monthlong festival in July in Los Angeles. Renowned actors, including Chris Pine, Scott Lowell, Constance Zimmer, David Castaeda, Kat McNamara, Dominic Burgess, Dylan O'Brien, Sarah Michell Gellar, Kirsten Vangsness, and Vico Ortiz, have graced the stage of YPF.
