Translation plays a crucial role in Na Mira's artistic practice, as it operates at the threshold of perception. Through her work in film, video, and performance, Na Mira explores the violent fragmentation of bodies while resisting the confinement of geographical and corporeal boundaries. In 1977, a name is erased at an immigration office, creating a generational score for becoming heat, hexagram, and hologram. Using oracular and glitch technologies, Na Mira witnesses what eludes data: doppelgängers, dreams, endangered tigers, tesseracts, A. Turiyasangitananda Coltrane's stairs, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha in a theater, Korean shamanism, frozen ligaments, wildfires, borderlands, subatomic particles, and pink. Na Mira's hauntological permutations in time, death, and relation transcend the symbolic order and draw energy from the void. Her autobody rites have been exhibited at various venues, including the Seoul Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Participant Inc., New York, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Na Mira holds an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has taught outside the US. She grew up between the US and East Asia.
