Single mother Harry Adams has always been a fan of horror movies, so when she is offered a job cleaning for renowned horror director Javier Castillo, she takes it without hesitation. His forbidding Chicago mansion, Bright Horses, is filled from top to bottom with terrifying props and costumes, as well as glittering awards from his decades-long career making films that thrilled audiences and dominated the box office. However, family tragedy and scandal forced him to vanish from the industry. Javier values discretion, so Harry tries to clean the house immaculately and keep her head down. She needs the money from this job to support her son. But then she starts hearing noises from behind a locked door. Noises that sound remarkably like a human voice calling for help, though Javier lives alone and never has visitors. Harry knows that not asking questions is a vital part of keeping her job, but she soon finds that the house and her enigmatic boss have secrets she can't ignore.

As she cleans, Harry discovers that the house is filled with strange artifacts and symbols that hint at a dark past. She also begins to notice strange occurrences, such as doors opening and closing on their own and objects moving without being touched. Harry becomes increasingly paranoid and begins to fear for her safety.

One night, Harry decides to investigate the locked door that she has been hearing noises from. She breaks into the room and finds a hidden closet filled with old film reels and photographs. As she sifts through the material, she discovers that Javier was once a famous horror director who was known for his controversial and violent films.

Harry becomes even more frightened as she learns more about Javier's past. She realizes that he has a dark and twisted side that he has been hiding from the world. She also discovers that he has been using the house as a base for his illegal activities, such as producing and distributing illegal drugs.

Harry is determined to expose Javier's secrets and bring him to justice. She contacts the police and provides them with evidence of his illegal activities. However, Javier is not willing to go down without a fight. He tries to intimidate Harry and threatens her and her son.

Harry is not afraid. She knows that she has to stand up for what is right and protect her son. She confronts Javier and demands that he leave the house and never come back. Javier is shocked by Harry's bravery and agrees to leave.

Harry is relieved that she has finally brought justice to Javier. She returns to her son and tells him the truth about what she has discovered. Her son is proud of her for standing up for what is right and for protecting him.

Harry's experience cleaning for Javier Castillo has been a nightmare, but she has learned a valuable lesson about the importance of standing up for what is right and protecting those who are vulnerable. She knows that she will never forget the terrifying secrets that she uncovered in the house of a reclusive horror director.
