The Jordanaires, a gospel group of predominantly Tennessee boys, formed in the 1940s and set the standard for studio vocal groups in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond. With a sixty-five-year career spanning from 1948 to 2013, their recordings have sold an estimated eight billion copies. The group sang on over 200 of Elvis's recordings, including most of his biggest hits. They were featured in three of his best-known movies, appeared on most of his early nationwide TV shows, and toured with him for many years. Gordon Stoker, the group's manager and high tenor, recalled countless miles spent together, filled with laughter and discussions about life.

While the Jordanaires' primary focus was Nashville's thriving recording industry, they were frequently flown across the country to perform at pop sessions in L.A. They backed up a diverse range of artists, including Ricky Nelson, Andy Williams, Fats Domino, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Dinah Shore, The Everly Brothers, Glen Campbell, Patti Page, Neil Young, Perry Como, Loretta Lynn, Ringo Starr, Tom Jones, Andy Griffith, Bobby Vinton, Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline, Billy Ray Cyrus, Clyde McPhatter, and approximately 2,100 other recording acts.

The Jordanaires' contributions to the music industry cannot be overstated. Their impeccable vocal harmonies, tight arrangements, and unwavering professionalism set the bar for vocal groups and influenced countless musicians. Their legacy continues to be celebrated, and their recordings remain timeless classics. The group's impact on the world of music is immeasurable, and their influence will be felt for generations to come.
