The Little Red Hen found some grains of wheat! Who will help her grow and harvest them?

A faithful retelling of the popular European tale, showing the stages from wheat to flour to freshly baked bread. With free online audio.

Once upon a time, there was a little red hen who found some grains of wheat. She was very happy and wanted to grow and harvest them herself. She asked her friends, the cat, the dog, and the mouse, to help her, but they all said no.

The little red hen was determined to help herself, so she started to grow the wheat. She plowed the fields, planted the seeds, and watered the plants every day. She worked hard for weeks, and finally, the wheat grew tall and golden.

The little red hen was very proud of herself and wanted to harvest the wheat. She asked her friends again, but they all said no again. The little red hen was not giving up, so she decided to harvest the wheat herself.

She cut the wheat with her sharp scissors and gathered it into a basket. She was very tired, but she was happy that she had done it herself. She took the basket of wheat to the mill and ground it into flour.

The little red hen was very proud of herself again. She took the flour to the baker and sold it to him. The baker made delicious bread with the flour, and the little red hen was very happy.

The little red hen had learned that if you want something done, you have to do it yourself. She had also learned that hard work pays off, and that you should never give up. She was a very happy little hen, and she lived happily ever after.
