The Norwegian Viking-Age ship from Oseberg, dating back to 820 AD, has been reconstructed in a new volume. In 1987, a full-scale reconstruction of the ship, named Dronningen, was built based on drawings of the exhibited ship. However, the reconstruction capsized and sank during the first test sailing, leading to questions about the ship's original performance. The present work aims to reconstruct the ship's form and construction anew. In 2012, a new full-scale reconstruction, Saga Oseberg, was built based on the new reconstruction. The subsequent test sailing revealed that the Oseberg Ship was originally technically advanced and seaworthy, disproving previous skepticism regarding its sailing abilities.
