Escape from the future, our heroes find themselves in a distant past, albeit a different one from our familiar timeline. It's 1953, but a year longer than in our history. The United Kingdom is still grappling with the aftermath of a Second World War that extended for an additional year, a consequence of which the country remains in a state of recovery. In this dire situation, the Americans intervened, deploying another atomic bomb on Berlin to save the besieged nation. As a result, the UK has been effectively taken over by the Americans, who are now running it as if it were an extension of their own empire. Furthermore, they are expanding their influence against the growing might of the Soviet Union.

A team of scientists is currently studying the Time Barrier, a remarkable discovery that has the potential to unlock the secrets of time travel. Meanwhile, mysterious items are being smuggled through from different time periods, raising suspicions that they may be traded with the future. The streets are teeming with spivs and racketeers, and the US Government is planning highways through time.

At the heart of this intriguing narrative is a familiar face. Spencer Banks (Simon Randall), Cheryl Burfield (Liz Skinner), Sarah Sutton (Charlotte Trent), Orlando Gibbs (Neil Riley/Taxi Driver), Clive Hayward (Professor Felix Loxton), David Hounslow (General Gus Guthrie), Matthew Jacobs-Morgan (Sam Bembé/Reuben Crowther/Cyril), Anjella MacKintosh (Gwennie White/Gerry Barton/Peggy), Amanda Shodeko (Jade Okafor), and Andrew James Spooner (Captain Frank Seymour/Dennis Montague) are the main cast members, with other members of the cast also playing various other parts.

The story unfolds in a world that is both familiar and unfamiliar, where the boundaries between the past, present, and future are blurred. Our heroes must navigate a complex web of intrigue and danger as they attempt to unravel the secrets of the Time Barrier and prevent the Americans from using it for their own nefarious purposes. With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, our heroes must use all their skills and resources to save the day and restore peace to the world.
