American artist Tony Feher (1956-2016) was renowned for his sculptures and site-specific installations, which he created from commonplace items like plastic bottles, glass jars, marbles, twine, cardboard boxes, and other mass-produced goods. It is less well known that he was also a prolific draftsman who drew incessantly throughout his career. Feher had amassed an archive of nearly 1,000 drawings at the time of his death in 2016, which are now housed in the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. These drawings, which are arranged in hasty arrays of image and text, reflect the same singular wit and aesthetic sensitivity that underpinned all of his work.

This monograph presents a selection of Feher's drawings for the first time, featuring jokes, poems, schematic illustrations, and repeated images that would later populate his sculptural installations. Feher's drawings are full of humor and poetic sensibility, showcasing his ability to capture the essence of everyday objects and transform them into works of art.

The monograph also includes an essay by art historian David Zwirner, who provides insight into Feher's artistic process and the significance of his drawings in his overall body of work. Zwirner explores Feher's fascination with the mundane and his ability to find beauty and meaning in the most ordinary of things.

Overall, this monograph is a valuable contribution to the understanding and appreciation of Tony Feher's art. It showcases his exceptional talent as a draftsman and his ability to create works of art that are both visually stunning and intellectually engaging.
