Big Finish continues the Torchwood storyline with Torchwood: Aliens Among Us. Captain Jack and Gwen Cooper have relaunched Torchwood, but it's in a very different Cardiff. Something terrible has happened to the city, and with each passing day, the darkness seems to deepen. Will Torchwood need to adopt a completely new approach to cope with the challenges they face?

In the fifth episode, "Love Rat" by Christopher Cooper, Captain Jack Harkness is dead, and that's the simplest thing that's happened to him in recent days. Even the manner of his death is surprisingly complex, especially when it turns out that he hasn't come back alone. While Torchwood struggles to cope with a new mayor and a terrorist cell, they also have to deal with what initially appears to be a plague but later reveals itself to be something far more sinister.

In the sixth episode, "A Kill to a View" by Mac Rogers, Ritz Towers is a luxurious tower block so exclusive that even aliens cannot get a place there. Mr. Colchester has somehow secured a flat at the Ritz. With the streets increasingly troubled, his husband feels safe there. The problem is that Ritz Towers is anything but safe. For starters, the building has more tenants than it has flats. Then there are the endless dinner parties. The whole new definition of upwardly mobile. And finally, there is the mysterious caretaker.

In the seventh episode, "Zero Hour" by Janine H Jones, Cardiff is experiencing an economic miracle. Thousands of jobs have been created, homelessness has been eradicated, and there are numerous benefits for the citizens. Deliverables, a company that provides various services, including post delivery, package delivery, and meal delivery, has played a significant role in this transformation. They claim to have created thousands of jobs and wiped out homelessness. Deliverables are always aware of their customers' whereabouts and are willing to take on their lives.

In the eighth episode, "The Empty Hand" by Tim Foley, an innocent refugee is shot point-blank on the streets of Cardiff. This incident triggers an upsurge in violence and chaos in the city. Torchwood must navigate through the treacherous waters and find a way to bring peace back to Cardiff.

These episodes offer a captivating continuation of the Torchwood story, exploring new challenges and threats that the team faces. With each passing day, the darkness seems to deepen, and Torchwood must adapt and evolve to survive. The characters are complex and well-developed, and the plotlines are engaging and suspenseful. Whether you're a fan of Doctor Who or Torchwood, these episodes are worth a listen.
