Western Canada's sole tri-service museum and military education center is the Military Museums in Calgary, Alberta. The regimental museums of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI), Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians), The King's Own Calgary Regiment, and the Calgary Highlanders, as well as the Naval, Army, and Air Force Museums of Alberta, are all housed within the Military Museums. Each year, more than 10,000 people visit the Military Museums. This is the tale of how The Military Museums came to be. The Museum of the Regiments was created as a result of the unprecedented collaboration of several regimental museums, from the extraordinary efforts of veterans and citizens to build and maintain one of Calgary's major cultural, educational, and tourist destinations. It is a tale of tenacity, collaboration, and community. The Military Museums, Founders Gallery, and Military Museums Libraries and Archives are committed to preserving the memories and traditions of the countless Canadians who proudly served their country through war and conflict, with the motto Remember, Preserve, and Educate. A Special Presentation of the University of Calgary Press is "Treasuring the Tradition: The Story of the Military Museums."
