Uriah Heep has been an active band for fifty years, but their most influential period was from 1970 to 1980. During this decade, they released thirteen studio albums, a legendary double live album, and had a regular turnover of musicians in all but the guitar and keyboard roles. The band's early albums were a search for a stable line-up, followed by the classic run that began with the Demons And Wizards album featuring the definitive Box/Hensley/Byron/Kerslake/Thain line-up. When charismatic frontman David Byron departed, there was a period of uncertainty, but still, remarkable music was made.

This book takes the reader on a year-by-year journey through that decade, examining the albums, the often grueling touring schedules, and the ups and downs of the relationships within the band. Despite never attaining the sales and success of some of their rivals, Uriah Heep released some of the most extraordinary music of the decade, and this book takes the reader through it all.
