Throughout the early 1970s, Intrepid conducted patrols in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean, diligently searching for Soviet submarines in antisubmarine operations during the Cold War.

As her naval career drew to a close, Intrepid embarked on a new chapter, hosting Navy exhibits during the US bicentennial celebrations in 1976. After that, she found a permanent home as the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on the Hudson River waterfront in New York City. Today, Intrepid continues to captivate visitors with its awe-inspiring stories, serving as a testament to the bravery and resilience of those who have served on board.
