The anthology presented here is based on the proceedings of the Third International Utzon Symposium, which took place on 1 April 2012 in the Dar el Bacha palace in Marrakech, Morocco. This symposium was a significant advancement in the ongoing exploration of Jørn Utzon's architecture and work, building upon the previous two symposia organized by the Utzon Research Center in Aalborg, Denmark. The collaboration between the Jørn Utzon Research Network (JURN), the Utzon Research Center, and the Ecole Nationale d'Architecture (ENA) of Morocco was instrumental in the success of this event. The primary objective of this book is to enhance our understanding of Utzon's architecture and work, particularly in the areas of dwelling, landscape, place, and making. We firmly believe that Utzon's approach to these aspects of architecture is exemplary, iconic, and of general significance, and we aim to delve deeper into the contours of what we have termed the "Utzon Paradigm." Our future endeavors within JURN will involve further elaboration of these contours and the filling of the form with meaningful content. We invite all those who share our passion for Utzon's work to join us in this endeavor, which will continue to be a focal point of future Utzon symposiums and workshops held around the world.
