- More about Weaving an Otherwise: In-Relations Methodological Practice
This book reconceptualizes qualitative research as an in-relations process that centers on, fully concerns with, and lifts up those who have been dispossessed, harmed, dehumanized, and erased due to white supremacy, settler colonialism, or other hegemonic world views. It prompts scholars to make connections between themselves as "researchers" and affect, ancestors, community, family, and kinship, space, and place, and the more-than-human beings with whom they are always already in community. It also explores the modes and ways of knowing through which we approach our research and how the practice of research can bring us closer to the peoples, places, more-than-human beings, histories, presents, and futures in which we are embedded and connected.

Through my research, I am bearing witness to the experiences and perspectives of individuals and communities who have been marginalized and oppressed by systems of white supremacy, settler colonialism, and other hegemonic worldviews. My research aims to shed light on the ways in which these systems have perpetuated harm, dehumanization, and erasure, and to explore the ways in which individuals and communities have resisted and resisted these processes.
In my research, I make several claims about who and what matters. Firstly, I argue that the experiences and perspectives of marginalized and oppressed individuals and communities are essential to understanding the world and that their voices must be heard and valued. Secondly, I argue that these systems of oppression are interconnected and that addressing one aspect of oppression without addressing others will not lead to lasting change. Thirdly, I argue that the practice of research can be a tool for social justice and change, as it can help to uncover hidden connections and reveal unconscious value systems that perpetuate oppression.
However, my research also has limitations and omissions. One limitation is that my research is primarily based on the experiences and perspectives of individuals and communities in the United States, which may not be representative of experiences and perspectives in other parts of the world. Another limitation is that my research may be influenced by my own biases and assumptions, which may not be transparent to my participants. Additionally, my research may overlook the experiences and perspectives of individuals who are not directly involved in the research, such as those who are in positions of power or privilege.
To address these limitations and omissions, I strive to be reflexive and self-aware in my research practice. I seek to engage in ongoing dialogue with my participants and to listen to their perspectives and experiences with an open mind and an open heart. I also strive to be aware of my own biases and assumptions and to work to mitigate their impact on my research.
In conclusion, my research is an in-relations process that is centered on, fully concerned with, and lifts up those who have been and continue to be dispossessed, harmed, dehumanized, and erased because of white supremacy, settler colonialism, or other hegemonic worldviews. Through my research, I aim to shed light on the ways in which these systems of oppression have perpetuated harm, dehumanization, and erasure, and to explore the ways in which individuals and communities have resisted and resisted these processes. I make several claims about who and what matters, and I strive to be reflexive and self-aware in my research practice to address the limitations and omissions of my research.
