THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER ___________ What a woman and what a book! Elizabeth Day Fabulous ... There is so much I really relate to,growing up as a young girl, the 90s,all the stuff you went through. Zoe Ball Amazing ... Absolutely brilliant. Chris Evans Sporty Spice telling it like it is. Independent An amazing story ... An incredibly profound, vulnerable and honest look into the highs and lows of the Spice Girls. Steven Bartlett Really lovely. Chris Moyles ___________ For the first time ever,Melanie C,aka Sporty Spice, tells her amazing life story in her own words and gives a full and honest account of what life was really like in The Spice Girls. I never told my story before because I wasn t ready. Now,finally,I am. 25 years ago,The Spice Girls,a girlband that began after answering an advert in the paper, released our first single. Wannabe became a hit and from that moment,my life changed for ever. I was suddenly part of one of the biggest music groups in history, releasing hit after hit, performing to our wonderful fans and spreading the message of Girl Power to the world. It was everything I d dreamed of growing up,and I ve had some incredible times... The BRITs! The movie! Travelling the world playing iconic venues like Madison Square Garden,The O2,Wembley Stadium and The London 2012 Olympics!!! When you re a woman, though, that power can be easily taken away by those around you, whether by pressure, exhaustion, shaming, bullying or a constant feeling like you aren t enough. I have been known as Sporty Spice,Mel C,Melanie C or jus.
I was a young girl growing up in the 90s, and I was a huge fan of the Spice Girls. I loved their music, their style, and their message of Girl Power. But I never knew the real story behind the band until I read Melanie C's book.
In her book, Melanie C tells her life story in her own words, from her childhood in Manchester to her rise to fame with the Spice Girls. She gives a full and honest account of what life was really like in the band, from the pressures of fame and the constant scrutiny of the media to the ups and downs of relationships and personal struggles.
What I loved most about Melanie C's book was her vulnerability and honesty. She doesn't shy away from the tough times, the mistakes she made, or the times when she felt like she wasn't enough. She shares her struggles with anxiety, depression, and body image, and how the Spice Girls helped her through some of the darkest times in her life.
One of the things that stood out to me was how the Spice Girls were a family. They were there for each other through thick and thin, and they supported each other through the highs and lows of fame. Melanie C talks about the close bond that the girls had, and how they were able to overcome the challenges that came their way way.
Another thing that I found interesting was Melanie C's perspective on the music industry and the pressures that come with it. She talks about the sexism, the racism, and the discrimination that she faced as a woman in the industry, and how the Spice Girls were able to break through those barriers and become one of the biggest music groups in history.
Overall, I highly recommend Melanie C's book to anyone who is a fan of the Spice Girls or who is interested in the music industry. It's a powerful, inspiring, and honest account of one woman's journey to fame and success.
