The delightful protagonist of Waterstones Children's Book Prize's shortlist, The Bear Who Stared, finds himself in yet more precarious situations! Bear is entrusted with overseeing the campfire for the forest party. However, as he embarks on his mission to gather wood, a series of unfortunate events unfold: he sustains a splinter in his paw, receives a significant bump on his head, and accidentally plunges into a vast muddy puddle. The logs graciously provided by Beaver have now become thoroughly soaked, leaving Bear with the daunting task of reviving the dwindling flames. The situation seems dire, but fortunately, Bear has the unwavering support of his loyal friend, Frog. Frog arrives just in time to impart a valuable lesson: that things are often not as bleak as they initially appear. Through their shared adventures, Bear learns to embrace the resilience and positivity that can arise even in the face of adversity. This heartwarming tale is a must-read for children who, like everyone, may encounter challenging moments during their journey. It serves as a gentle reminder that with the help of friends and a positive outlook, even the most difficult situations can be overcome.
