Power electronic converters have become an integral part of numerous industrial applications in recent decades. Comprising controllable power switches, they can be effectively controlled through strategies to achieve desired transient response and steady-state performance, ensuring the stability, reliability, and safety of the system. The linear proportional–integral–derivative (PID) series control is the most widely adopted control strategy in the industry. However, when parameter changes, nonlinearity, and load disturbances occur in the system, the performance of the controller significantly deteriorates. To address this challenge, numerous advanced control methodologies and techniques have been developed to enhance the converter performance.

This book aims to present the research work on various advanced control methodologies for different types of power converters, including three-phase two-level AC/DC power converters, three-phase NPC AC/DC power converters, and DC/DC buck converters. The effectiveness and advantages of the proposed control strategies are verified through simulations and experiments.

The content of this book can be divided into two parts. The first part focuses on disturbance observer-based control methods for power converters under investigation. The second part investigates intelligent control methods. These methodologies provide a framework for controller design, observer design, stability and performance analysis for the considered power converter systems.

In conclusion, this book offers valuable insights into advanced control methodologies for power converters, enabling researchers and practitioners to improve the performance, stability, and reliability of these essential devices in industrial applications.
