Eric Tabuchi and Nelly Monnier's Atlas des Régions Naturelles, in its fourth edition, continues a long-term project initiated in 2017 to comprehensively document the 450 natural regions, or 'pays (lands)', that make up the French territory. This photographic journey, spanning several years, will be unveiled through a new publication every six months. The duo delves into these small geographical and cultural entities, some of which have been overshadowed by administrative divisions, to capture the essence of each region. They blend man-made elements, such as traditional architecture, toponyms, local tastes, and historical traces, with natural features like relief, landscapes, colors, and vegetation. With 384 pages and over 500 images, the Atlas des Régions Naturelles Vol. 4 presents twelve 'portraits' of natural regions, each accompanied by four themes. As with previous editions, the volume includes a map serving as an index at the back of the book. The fourth edition's chapters include Argonne, Bresse bourguignonne, Champagne berrichonne, Écussons, Crau, Flander maritime, Grand Ried, Garage, Minervois, Perthois, Plateau de Saint-André, Silo, Saintonge romane, Vallespir, Velay, and Tours Eiffel.
