Sophie bravely confronted the hunters and pleaded with them to leave Scruffilitis alone. The hunters were not impressed by Sophie's plea, and they threatened to kill Scruffilitis if she didn't leave them alone.

Sophie was determined to save Scruffilitis, and she knew that she had to use her own wisdom and intelligence to outsmart the hunters. She quickly came up with a plan to distract the hunters and give Scruffilitis enough time to escape.

Sophie ran into the woods, pretending to be lost and scared. She called out for Scruffilitis, and the fox heard her calling and ran towards her. The hunters, thinking that Sophie was their target, chased after her.
