In 2019, Brian Blomerth embarked on a captivating journey by fusing his singularly irreverent underground comix style with extensively researched historical content. This remarkable fusion was showcased in his work, Bicycle Day, a vibrant retelling of the discovery of LSD. Since then, Blomerth has continued to explore the fascinating realm of mind expansion, taking readers on wild and woolly excursions into the history of psychedelic substances. His latest offering, Mycelium Wassonii, delves into the lives and extraordinary trips of R. Gordon and Valentina Wasson, the pioneering scientist couple who played a pivotal role in popularizing the use of psychedelic mushrooms. This captivating book offers a global perspective, intertwining hallucinatory science, religious mysticism, and notable appearances by Life Magazine, the CIA, and the Buddha. Blomerth's distinctive Isograph pen brings this visual history to life, capturing the essence of a love story that is uniquely rendered by his artistic prowess.
