A full-color map, dating back to 1480, showcases the city of Bristol against a backdrop of a detailed Ordnance Survey from the early 20th century. During this time, a prominent figure named William Worcestre revisited his hometown and meticulously documented every street, building, and activity within it. Worcestre's detailed description, combined with archaeological findings and historical research, has enabled the creation of a map that accurately depicts the city during that period. At the time, Bristol was a thriving and expanding city, actively engaged in extensive trade with Europe and poised to embark on a new trade route with the Americas. Its numerous merchant houses, churches, and partially preserved city walls attest to its status as one of the top five cities in England during the late Middle Ages. The map's cover includes a brief introduction to the city in 1480 and a comprehensive gazetteer of Bristol's most significant medieval sites. This publication was produced in collaboration with the University of Bristol.
