  • More about Butterfly Girl

Olivia and her butterfly friends spend all of their time together until one day, Olivia and her mother move to an apartment in the city. Olivia is heartbroken because she doesn't want to leave her butterfly friends behind, but her mother assures her that she will make new friends in the city. When Olivia and her mum arrive in the city, it is grey and gloomy, and no one appears. Olivia remembers that butterflies need colorful nectar plants, a puddle pool, and rocks to rest their wings on, so she decides to build a butterfly balcony garden using whatever she can find. Just as Olivia is about to lose hope, a gust of wind blows flowers from her balcony garden across the grey sky and onto her neighbors' balconies. People of all ages and cultural ethnicities appear on their balconies to pick up the flowers, and Olivia suddenly knows what she needs to do to attract (human and butterfly) friends.

Olivia and her butterfly companions had spent countless hours together, enjoying each other's company and exploring the world around them. However, one day, everything changed. Olivia's mother had received a job offer in a different city, and the family had to relocate. Olivia was heartbroken, as she didn't want to leave her beloved butterfly friends behind.

Her mother, however, assured her that they would make new friends in the city. When they arrived in the bustling metropolis, Olivia was struck by the grey and gloomy atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be sheltering inside, avoiding the cold weather. Olivia waited patiently for new friends to come and play, but no one appeared.

Feeling lonely and discouraged, Olivia stood on her empty concrete apartment balcony and called out to her butterfly friends. To her surprise, they didn't appear. She realized that butterflies needed colorful nectar plants, a puddle pool, and rocks to rest their wings on. Unfortunately, Olivia didn't have a garden anymore, as they had lived in a rural area before.

Determined to attract (human and butterfly) friends, Olivia decided to build a butterfly balcony garden using whatever she could find. She scoured the streets for flowers and plants, and even collected discarded pots and containers to use as planters. She spent hours tending to her garden, planting and watering the flowers and creating a cozy space for the butterflies to rest.

Days turned into weeks, and Olivia continued to wait for her butterflies to return. But they didn't. She began to lose hope, feeling like she had failed in her mission to make friends. Just as she was about to give up, a gust of wind blew flowers from her balcony garden across the grey sky and onto her neighbors' balconies. People of all ages and cultural ethnicities appeared on their balconies to pick up the flowers, and Olivia suddenly knew exactly what she needed to do to attract (human and butterfly) friends.

She realized that her butterfly balcony garden wasn't just about providing a habitat for butterflies. It was about creating a community and bringing people together. She started organizing events and gatherings on her balcony, inviting her neighbors to join her in enjoying the beauty of nature. She also reached out to local schools and organizations to educate people about the importance of pollinators and the benefits of creating butterfly gardens.

Slowly but surely, Olivia's butterfly balcony garden began to attract attention. People from all over the city came to visit, marveling at the colorful flowers and the delicate butterflies fluttering around. Olivia's mother was proud of her daughter for creating such a beautiful and meaningful space. And Olivia felt a sense of fulfillment and happiness, knowing that she had made a difference in the lives of others.

In the end, Olivia and her mother moved to a new apartment in the city, but the butterfly balcony garden remained a cherished memory. Olivia continued to attract (human and butterfly) friends, and her garden became a symbol of hope and community. She learned that sometimes, the most important things in life are not material possessions or personal success, but the connections we make with others and the impact we have on the world around us.
