Kaya Doi, born in Tokyo, Japan, holds a degree in design from Tokyo Zokei University. Her journey into the world of picture books began with her attendance at the Atosaki Juku Workshop, held at a Tokyo bookshop specializing in children's literature. Since then, she has created numerous picture books that showcase her exquisite color-pencil drawings. Kaya lives in Chiba Prefecture and remains deeply committed to environmental and animal welfare issues. Following the earthquake of 2011, she has actively participated in recovery and shelter efforts for abandoned pets.

David Boyd, Assistant Professor of Japanese at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, has made significant contributions to the translation of Japanese literature. His translations have been featured in esteemed publications such as Monkey Business International, Granta, and Words Without Borders. Through his work, Boyd has brought the rich and diverse literary traditions of Japan to a broader international audience, enriching the global literary landscape.
