The direct sequel to a classic photobook, "Daido Moriyama: Record 2" is a remarkable collection of photographs from Moriyama's seminal magazine publication spanning from 2017 to the present day. Originally titled "Record" and published between June 1972 and July 1973, this publication served as a diary of Moriyama's artistic journey. In 2006, with the encouragement of Japanese publisher Akio Nagasawa, Moriyama was able to resume publication of "Record," and the first thirty issues were compiled into the acclaimed 2017 photobook of the same name, edited by Mark Holborn. "Daido Moriyama: Record 2" continues where the original left off, featuring a selection of images and texts by Moriyama from issues thirty-one to fifty of the magazine. At the age of eighty, Moriyama's work remains unmistakably his, characterized by bold contrasts, fragmented compositions, and intensely composed frames that capture the essence of his vision as one of the greatest photographers. While this may be the final installment in the series, it is a testament to Moriyama's enduring artistic legacy.
