Dana Schutz was born in 1976 in Livonia, Michigan, and received her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art, Ohio, and her MFA from Columbia University, New York. She currently resides and works in Brooklyn, New York. Schutz has had recent solo museum exhibitions in venues such as the Transformer Station in Cleveland, Ohio (2018), where she debuted a series of paintings; the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston (2017), where she showcased new work; the Musée dart contemporain de Montréal (2015), where she presented a career survey; and the Hepworth Wakefield in England (2013), which later traveled to the kestnergesellschaft in Hanover, Germany (2014).
