Dublin Bus, established in February 1987 as a result of the separation of services from Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ), has evolved into a contemporary and forward-thinking bus operator. In July 2018, plans were unveiled for a comprehensive overhaul of Dublin's bus services. These changes, proposed by the National Transport Authority, resulted in a renumbering of key routes and enhancements to frequencies. As a consequence, Dublin Bus has ceded some of its depots and routes to the Go-Ahead group, which operates its own fleet and has introduced new routes.

Richard Walter's captivating book, "Dublin Bus: A Photographic History," showcases the remarkable transformation of Dublin bus services in the twenty-first century. Through a series of before-and-after photographs, Walter vividly illustrates the diverse range of buses employed, highlighting the significant changes that have taken place. Additionally, the book features some intriguing open- and closed-top vehicles that have offered tours encompassing sightseeing, afternoon teas, and even ghostly encounters.

This captivating photographic journey provides a unique perspective on the evolution of Dublin's bus services, showcasing the city's rich history and cultural diversity through the lens of transportation. Whether you are a resident or a visitor, "Dublin Bus: A Photographic History" is a must-read for anyone interested in exploring the city's transportation heritage.
