Oops! A look out! And a crash! Suddenly, Father Giant appeared with his quivering moustache.
"Who did this?" he asked, his voice trembling with anger.
Olive and her brother, Grub, looked at each other in confusion. They had no idea what had happened.
"It wasn't us, Father Giant," Olive said, her voice shaking.
"I know it wasn't you, Olive," Father Giant said, his voice softening slightly. "But someone did this, and I want to find out who it was."
He looked around the room, his eyes scanning every inch of it.
"There must be a clue somewhere," he said. "Let's start by looking at the elephant."
Olive and Grub followed Father Giant to the elephant's room. The elephant was lying on the ground, its trunk broken and its tusks shattered.
"Oh no, the elephant!" Olive exclaimed.
"It's okay, Olive," Father Giant said, his voice reassuring. "We'll fix it."
He began to examine the elephant, looking for any signs of damage.
"I think I know what happened," he said finally. "Someone must have knocked the elephant over while it was standing up."
Olive and Grub looked at each other in surprise.
"But who would do that?" Grub asked.
Father Giant shook his head.
"I don't know," he said. "But we'll find out. We'll start by talking to everyone in the castle. Maybe someone saw something."
He turned to Olive and Grub.
"You two stay here and help me with the elephant," he said. "I'll go talk to everyone else."
Olive and Grub nodded, and Father Giant left the room.
They spent the next few hours fixing the elephant's trunk and tusks. They were careful to do it right, so that the elephant would be able to stand up again.
When they were finished, they went to find Father Giant.
"Did you find out who did it?" Olive asked.
Father Giant smiled.
"Yes, I did," he said. "It was the knight who was guarding the elephant. He was tired and fell asleep, and the elephant knocked him over."
Olive and Grub were surprised.
"But why would he do that?" Grub asked.
Father Giant shook his head.
"I don't know," he said. "But we'll make sure he doesn't do it again. We'll give him a warning and let him know that he needs to be more careful."
Olive and Grub nodded, and Father Giant went back to his room.
They spent the rest of the day playing with the elephant and enjoying the castle. They knew that everything was back to normal now, and they were happy.
As Father Giant s favourite china elephant lay shattered on the ground, his heart sank with disappointment. He knew that the culprit had to be found, and he set out to investigate the matter with determination.
The first person he questioned was the knight who had been assigned to guard the elephant. The knight, ashamed of his mistake, confessed that he had fallen asleep on duty and the elephant had knocked him over.
Father Giant was furious, but he knew that he had to be fair. He punished the knight and ordered him to be more careful in the future.
Next, he turned his attention to the other inhabitants of the castle. He asked them if they had seen anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
After several days of questioning, he finally received a lead. One of the servants had overheard a conversation between two of the castle guards. The guards had been discussing a plan to steal the elephant and sell it for a large sum of money.
Father Giant was shocked and saddened by the news. He knew that he had to act quickly to prevent the theft. He gathered a team of soldiers and set out to catch the culprits.
The soldiers followed the lead and soon found the two guards hiding in a remote corner of the castle. The guards were caught red-handed and confessed to their crime.
Father Giant was relieved that the elephant was safe, but he was also angry with the guards for their selfishness and greed. He punished them severely and ordered them to be banished from the castle.
From that day on, the castle was a safer place, and Father Giant s favourite china elephant was once again a treasured possession. The incident had taught everyone a valuable lesson about the importance of responsibility and the consequences of their actions.
Olive and Grub, who had been implicated in the initial investigation, were relieved to learn that they were not the culprits. They were grateful to Father Giant for his fairness and his quick thinking.
As they grew older, they became more responsible and respectful of others. They learned that even the smallest actions can have a significant impact on the world around them, and they vowed to always do their best to make a positive difference.
Years passed, and Olive and Grub grew into strong and wise adults. They continued to live in the castle, where they worked hard to maintain the peace and prosperity of the kingdom.
And whenever they looked at the china elephant, they remembered the day that it had been shattered. They remembered the lessons that they had learned and the courage that they had shown in the face of adversity.
And they knew that they would always be grateful to Father Giant for his love and guidance, and for the lessons that he had taught them about the importance of responsibility and the power of kindness.
