The inevitability of variability in the process and diverse learning outcomes is a phenomenon that cannot be avoided. This book is built upon the premise that heterogeneity primarily pertains to young language learners, who require appropriately tailored educational solutions due to the disparity in their developmental pace. Furthermore, heterogeneity encompasses a variety of contexts in which learning occurs, which can be defined at different scales, such as macroscale (different countries), mesoscale (different institutions), and microscale (specific learner groups).
