Hilma af Klints art is deserving of a Catalogue Raisonné, as it holds a message and reveals a philosophy. For the first time, the reader can review her work in the order she established in 1938, in a historical document divided into seven volumes. The paintings are presented in the order her friend anthroposophist Olof Sundström eventually numbered them in 1945, on assignment by Erik af Klint (1901–1981). Erik af Klint was the sole heir to af Klints oeuvre, as well as the sole donor to and founder of the Hilma af Klint Foundation in 1972. The works are printed in an exclusive edition designed by Patric Leo and produced in cooperation with the Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation. The final volume includes a biographical essay on Hilma af Klint by the German author Julia Voss. Hilma af Klint is becoming increasingly recognized as one of Sweden's most fascinating artists, and this Catalogue Raisonné is a tool that facilitates research and establishes her work as a true deed for culture.
