Françoise dEaubonnes creation of the term "ecofeminism" in 1974 sparked a global exploration of the interconnectedness between environmental degradation and the subjugation of women. In the nearly three decades since the publication of Maria Mies and Vandana Shiva's classical work Ecofeminism in 1993, numerous collections have emerged that apply ecofeminism to literary criticism, also known as feminist ecocriticism. These collections have expanded the comparative task initiated by Mies and Shiva, with recent anthologies emphasizing international perspectives. However, until now, there has been a lack of books dedicated to gaining a comprehensive understanding of feminist ecocriticism in India, understood in its own terms. Our new volume, Indian Feminist Ecocriticism, aims to address this gap by presenting a survey of literature through an ecofeminist lens, as seen by Indian scholars. This volume offers a unique perspective by examining contemporary literary analysis through a diverse range of Indian languages and within the context of India's millennia-old mythic traditions.
