Introduction to Rural Sociology and Educational Psychology

This book consists of 22 chapters and was designed based on the Sixth Deans Committee Syllabi of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The first five chapters deal with extension education, rural sociology, Indian rural society, structure of rural society and social groups. The sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth chapters focus on social stratification, culture, social control, social values and their role in agricultural extension. The tenth chapter is about social institutions, social organisation and ecological entities. The eleventh chapter elaborates on the social interaction process and the twelfth chapter is about social change. The thirteenth and fourteenth chapter discuss leadership, training of leaders and their importance in agricultural extension. The fifteenth chapter focuses on psychology and educational psychology. The chapters sixteen, seventeen and nineteen discuss the basic principles of human behaviour, intelligence and personality. The nineteenth and twentieth chapters focus on the concept of teaching, learning and their types and elements along with principles. Finally, the last two chapters twenty-one and twenty-two emphasise on motivation, attitude and their importance. This book will be highly useful for students who are currently undergoing undergraduate and post graduate courses in agriculture/horticulture and other allied subjects. This will also benefit the aspirants of ICAR JRF, UGC NET and ASRB NET examinations. This book can be used as a base material for those who wish to gain basic knowledge on rural sociology and educational psychology.
