- More about Jessie's Diary
Jessie Whitmore was a beautiful, caring, and humorous teenager diagnosed with leukaemia at sixteen. She underwent IVF to save her eggs and bravely went through treatment without seeking sympathy. However, the oral medication eventually stopped working, and Jessie needed a bone marrow transplant and intravenous chemotherapy. She chose to have the transplant as soon as possible and started helping her medical team find a matching donor. Unfortunately, the side-effects of the chemotherapy were too much for her, and she died in 2005.

Jessie Whitmore, a beautiful, caring, and witty individual, resided in Swanley, Kent, in the south-east of England. Her presence was immediately noticeable upon entering a room, and she made time for everyone, regardless of age. At the age of sixteen, just a week before her GCSE school exams, Jessie received a devastating diagnosis of leukemia. Despite the challenges she faced, Jessie bravely underwent treatment without seeking sympathy or undue attention. Initially, oral medication was prescribed, but it became clear that it was not effective. Jessie was advised that she would eventually need a bone marrow transplant and intravenous chemotherapy. She decided to proceed with the transplant as soon as possible and began working with her medical team to find a matching donor. Finally, a match was found. On June 2005, when Jessie was admitted to Kings College Hospital in London, her aunt Debbie gave her a notebook and suggested that she keep a diary as she would be in the hospital for approximately six weeks. This diary, titled "Jessie's Diary," is a testament to Jessie's resilience and determination. The bone marrow transplant was successful, but the side effects of the chemotherapy were too much for her, leading to her untimely death.
