Belgian artist Fleur Pierets had a unique aspiration: to marry her partner Julian in all countries where same-sex marriage was legal. Driven by a desire to promote equal marriage rights in a positive light, they embarked on a global journey of love. However, their plans were abruptly halted when Julian was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor after their fourth marriage in Paris. Tragically, Julian passed away two months later, leaving Fleur with an overwhelming sense of loss. In the face of this devastating setback, she found solace in writing. Together with Julian P. Boom, Fleur Pierets worked as an artist duo under the name JF. They created various artistic projects, including the magazine "Et Alors?" In September 2017, they launched their performance project, Project 22, in New York.

The book is divided into three sections: "Before," "During," and "After." The first part delves into the story of how Julian and Fleur Pierets met, explores their careers before their love blossomed, and provides context for their intense relationship and collaborative work. The second part is a heartfelt celebration of love, freedom, progress, and the unwavering commitment they shared. It revolves around their magazine "Et Alors?" and their iconic Project 22, which aimed to get married in every country where same-sex marriage was legal. They exchanged vows in New York, Paris, Amsterdam, and Antwerp, while raising awareness about same-sex relationships.

The third and final part of the book deals with Julian's illness and eventual passing. Fleur candidly shares her grief and the challenges she faced in coping with the loss of her soulmate. Through her vivid descriptions of their life together, the author allows the reader to empathize deeply with her emotions. While this book may evoke tears, it also carries a sense of lightness, hope, and the profound realization that true love exists. Fleur's love for Julian is palpable in every sentence, transcending the boundaries of words. It is a force of nature that resonates with the reader, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
