Aoi Tsubaki, a young woman with the ability to see spirits, finds herself in a precarious situation. She has inherited her grandfather's debt to the spirit world and has been kidnapped to Kakuriyo, where she must either marry the head of the inn her grandfather trashed or be eaten by demons. However, Aoi is not one to be easily pushed around and is determined to redeem her grandfather's IOU on her own terms.

As they investigate, Aoi learns that the spirits are not as they seem and that there is a deeper plot at work. She also discovers that the hot springs manager has a secret past and that he may be involved in the mystery.

With the help of the hot springs manager, Aoi begins to uncover the truth about the spirits and the mystery that surrounds them. She discovers that the spirits are not as evil as they seem and that there is a way to break the curse that has been placed on the inn.
