However, in more abstract scenarios, such as those encountered in particle physics and quantum technologies, symmetry becomes the sole known and relevant fact about the problem.

The purpose of these Lecture Notes is to impart the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize the symmetry of a scientific problem and utilize symmetry to comprehend, manipulate, and ultimately solve it. The guiding principle behind these Lecture Notes is that learning through practical experience is the only effective method for young students to develop into productive scientists, business professionals, and industry leaders. These Lecture Notes consist of two main components. The first one encompasses the content of a series of lectures delivered at ETH Zurich, primarily attended by students from the departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Material Science. These lectures were accompanied by a set of student projects on diverse scientific subjects related to symmetry.
