Micky Flanagan's autobiographical comedy show, based on his Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated show "What Chance Change?", is now available as a complete BBC radio series. This series combines brilliant stand-up with insightful behind-the-scenes interviews to take listeners on a journey through Flanagan's life, from the 1970s to the 2000s.

The five episodes of the series chart Flanagan's progression from a working-class Herbert to a middle-class intellectual giant, navigating the awkward space between these two worlds. Through hilarious jokes and sharply observed comic routines, Flanagan takes us on a journey from the mean streets of the East End to the leafy lanes of East Dulwich, outlining his rise to fame from a Billingsgate fish porter to a successful entertainer.

The series explores Flanagan's education, including his departure from school without qualifications, his journey to New York to pursue his dreams of being an international lover and player, and his return to education to become a teacher. It also delves into his marriage and the establishment of his stand-up career.

Flanagan chats with family, friends, and special guests, including sociology professor Paul Willis, millionaire plumber Charlie Mullins, and fellow comedian Sean Lock, to explore how his upbringing shaped his identity, discuss the thorny issue of class and comedy, and explain how taking chances has changed his life over four decades.

The series is written and performed by Flanagan and produced by Tilusha Ghelani. It first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on January 6, 2009, with the pilot episode, and continued with Series 1 from May 25 to June 15, 2010.

This captivating series offers a unique and entertaining perspective on Flanagan's life, combining humor, insight, and personal reflection to provide a rich and engaging listening experience. Whether you're a fan of Flanagan's stand-up or are new to his work, this series is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates good comedy and storytelling.
