Millie and Oscar are two ordinary children living in a small town. However, their lives take an unexpected turn when they meet Mr. Wallatt, an eccentric scientist. Mr. Wallatt is a passionate eco-warrior and a hoarder who believes in the power of recycling to protect the planet. He has a grand plan to reinforce the magnetic field at the North Pole using a giant battery and a large electromagnet from his attic.
Meanwhile, in a separate part of the world, astronomer Jed Bronzovic is assigned the task of studying the asteroid belt. He discovers a large asteroid made mostly of iron that has been diverted and is on a collision course with Earth. He calls it Ferrus-11.
As Mr. Wallatt, the children, and their fast-running cat, Torpedo, work on their experiment, Jed calculates that Ferrus-11 is going to collide with the Earth, causing widespread destruction. Warning broadcasts are made around the world, and the three children realize that Mr. Wallatt's magnet may hold the key to deflecting the asteroid.
With time running out, the children embark on a mission to complete their experiment and save the Earth from destruction. They face numerous challenges and obstacles along the way, but their determination and teamwork help them overcome them.
In the end, they succeed in deflecting Ferrus-11, saving the Earth from a catastrophic impact. The three children are hailed as heroes, and their story inspires people around the world to take action to protect the planet.
Mr. Wallatt's experiment not only saved the Earth but also opened up new possibilities for scientific research and exploration. The children's journey teaches them the importance of teamwork, determination, and the power of innovation to make a positive impact on the world.
