No More Parades, a novel by Ford Madox Ford, delves into the tumultuous backdrop of the First World War. Set against the backdrop of a changing world, the story revolves around the character of Christopher Tietjens, a brilliant statistician and wealthy aristocrat known as "the last Tory." As he navigates a tumultuous marriage and embarks on an affair, Tietjens finds himself drawn into the war, driven by questionable motives and a sense of sacrifice.

Through his experiences, Tietjens emerges as a symbol of a dying era, consumed by death, despair, and destruction. The novel has been adapted for television twice, in 1964 and 2012, further cementing Ford's reputation as a leading novelist of the twentieth century. W. H. Auden, in his review, hailed it as one of the few English novels that deserved the designation of greatness.

Having gone to war to escape his troubled romantic life, Christopher Tietjens soon realizes that the glories of battle are a dangerous illusion. As a Captain, he bears the responsibility of thousands of soldiers on the front lines of France, many of whom come from humble backgrounds unlike his own. Witnessing the horrors of war, including the devastating German assault, Tietjens struggles to maintain a semblance of his own humanity amidst the chaos.

Back home, his unfaithful wife takes advantage of his prolonged absence, longing for his return. However, as the war takes its toll, she begins to contemplate the consequences of her actions and the potential loss of the man she loves. No More Parades is a poignant and emotionally charged tale that explores themes of romance, war, and betrayal. It serves as a brilliant sequel to Ford's earlier work, Some Do Not.

This edition of the novel features a beautifully designed cover and a professionally typeset manuscript, reflecting the care and attention given to preserving Ford's literary legacy.
