This comprehensive box of comprehension cards encompasses a diverse range of high-interest short passages of text, accompanied by four comprehension questions designed to prompt students to identify and effectively cite textual evidence. The card set offers a wide variety of genres, ensuring engagement and comprehension across different subject areas. Each card features a passage of age-appropriate text accompanied by an illustration, and four comprehension questions related to the passage. The 100 text cards are organized into 10 distinct question types, each focusing on a different aspect of reading comprehension.

The first type, Cause and Effect, delves into the events or actions that lead to a specific outcome or consequence in a story. These questions encourage students to analyze the chain of events and understand how they contribute to the overall narrative.

The second type, Description, focuses on the use of words to create a vivid mental image. Students are asked to identify and describe the sensory details and imagery present in the text, enhancing their ability to visualize and interpret the story.

Details are literal questions that require students to recall information directly from the text. These questions test their knowledge of the content and help them demonstrate their understanding of the passage.

Main Idea questions focus on the overarching message or theme of a story. Students are asked to identify the central idea conveyed by the title, setting, symbols, or the actions and behaviors of the characters. Understanding the main idea helps students grasp the overarching purpose or significance of the text.

Problem and Solution questions explore the central problem or conflict in a story and the steps taken to resolve or overcome it. These questions encourage students to analyze the characters' motivations, actions, and outcomes, and consider the consequences of their choices.

Questions you would ask the author delve into the reasons behind the author's choice to write a particular text. Authors often have multiple purposes in mind, and these questions encourage students to consider the author's intentions and perspectives.

Sequence of Events questions focus on the plot and the order of events in a story. Students are asked to identify the sequence of events, analyze the relationships between them, and predict the outcome. This type of question helps students understand the structure and development of the story.

Similarities and Differences questions encourage students to compare and contrast two or more elements of the text, such as characters, settings, or plots. Students are asked to identify the similarities and differences between these elements and analyze how they contribute to the story's overall theme or message.

Summarize Vocabulary questions focus on expanding students' vocabulary and understanding of key terms. Students are provided with definitions.
