Chris Middlebrook is an Australian documenter of skateboarders and skateboarding. He has been doing this for the past 35 years and has shot a long list of skaters, including, Lewis Marnell, Dustin Dollin, Shane O'Neill, Jason Dill, Nick Boserio, Chima Ferguson, Stefan Janoski, Omar Salazar, Arto Saari, Jack O'Grady, Eric Koston, Tom Penny, Hayley Wilson, Chloe Covell, Rayssa Leal and Yuto Horigome. He began shooting photos and video in his hometown of Frankston, and went on to film in Melbourne for Blank Clothing, work for Nike SB, Transworld, Baker & Alien Workshop, shoot music video clips for Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Coach Australian Olympic Skateboarders and start April Skateboards. Chris' expansive archive continues to inspire multiple generations skateboarders and film makers around the world. PAUSE is Chris' first book. It shares his visual journey from 1990 to 2025 through photographic and video stills in a variety of formats, 35mm, Polaroid, Super 8, 8MM, HI8, Mini DV & HD Video. Its is accompanied with a detailed explanation of his journey and back story to the images.
