Telecollaboration has been a prominent approach in foreign language education for over two decades. In this comprehensive corpus study, we explore telecollaboration in Third Language Learning, focusing on both institutional (CEFR) and non-institutional settings. Our research follows the principle of autonomy within the framework of Higher Education, implementing online tandems and student recordings to analyze discourse patterns.

The chapters in this issue present original studies based on corpus data from the L3Task project. These studies showcase findings and introduce innovative research paradigms and instruments that strengthen the teaching and research methodology in online tandem practice for third language learning.

Telecollaboration offers a rich environment for language learners to engage in authentic communication, develop cultural awareness, and enhance language proficiency. By leveraging technology and fostering collaboration among learners from different backgrounds, telecollaboration promotes language learning in a dynamic and interactive way.

Through our corpus study, we aim to contribute to the understanding and advancements of telecollaboration in foreign language education. We hope that our findings will inspire educators and researchers to explore new avenues for leveraging telecollaboration in language teaching and learning, ultimately enhancing the outcomes and experiences of language learners worldwide.
