A young kangaroo named Alexander resides in his mother's pocket, nestled within her warm embrace. Alexander cherishes his mother dearly, yet there's one thing that annoys him to no end. His mother constantly stuffs her pocket with various items, leaving Alexander's tidy world in disarray. Determined to maintain order, Alexander diligently attempts to keep things organized, but it seems like his efforts are in vain. Whenever he voices his frustration, his sister mocks him, reminding him that it's time to leave the pouch. However, Alexander finds solace and comfort in his cozy abode, enveloped by the warmth and familiarity of his mother's scent.

One fateful day, the contents of Nancy's pocket reach an unprecedented level. Twelve bobby pins, a tube of toothpaste, a bottle of water, a packet of chewing gum, two bus tickets, some keys, a toy car, and a cookbook find their way into the pouch. As if that weren't enough, more items continue to accumulate, filling every nook and cranny. Alexander's patience reaches its breaking point. "I can't take it anymore!" he exclaims, his voice filled with determination. "I'm moving out!" With a mix of excitement and trepidation, Alexander relocates to the room next to his sister's. Together, they transform the space into a cozy haven, adorned with a soft furry blanket and shelves meticulously arranged to store Alexander's belongings. It's almost like a miniature version of his mother's pouch. Almost.

As the story reaches its penultimate spread, Alexander is seen peacefully sleeping, surrounded by his cherished possessions. The final spread depicts Nancy, with a mischievous glint in her eye, gently clearing out her pocket. It's a subtle nod to the inevitable transition, as Alexander prepares to embark on a new chapter of his life. The tale beautifully encapsulates the bond between a son and mother, as well as the transformative journey towards independence. It serves as a reminder of the importance of cherishing the moments spent with loved ones and the courage it takes to step out into the world.
