Il presente volume propone una riflessione sul legame tra poesia e mare all’interno della produzione letteraria italiana e spagnola del secolo XX, cercando di recuperare, dalla lettura degli autori scelti, i segni di un’esperienza diretta con l’elemento, imprescindibile per la costruzione di immagini, attitudini, culture, che concorrono a considerare il mare non solamente un oggetto letterario, ma anche un principio fondamentale a livello antropologico. Per soddisfare tale visione della rapporto tra mare ed essere umano, sono stati scelti cinque poeti, tre italiani (Montale, Conte, Marin) e due spagnoli (Alberti, Hierro), capaci con i loro versi di fornire uno sguardo particolare al mare, non solo dal punto di vista esistenziale, ma anche a livello filosofico e antropologico. Per realizzare l’obiettivo della nostra ricerca, si è deciso di iniziare dalla letteratura greco-latina, per meglio comprendere la formazione dei tòpoi letterari più importanti e decisivi.
