Popular Song, the eagerly anticipated debut by Harry Man, is a thrilling journey into the realms of science, science fiction, poetry, and pop culture. Within its pages, we embark on an extraordinary adventure alongside the Invisible Man as he seeks meaning, traverses time and space through the music of David Bowie, and discovers Wordsworth water-skiing alongside a clownfish. We also witness Ed Sheeran's boundless love for typography and find a fresh connection with our past by re-watching The Empire Strikes Back in reverse. This collection captures both the ethereal beauty of supermarket night shifts and the peculiar dreamscapes of the British Isles, as well as the duality of the term 'popular,' which has the power to both unite and divide, move from current obsession to obsolescence, and evoke nostalgia. These poems brim with a sense of wonder, blending a playful and cosmic energy with a deep consideration of the fragility of our position on Earth and the enduring hold of our intimacy, even as we remain bound by its gravitational pull. Playful and cosmic, Popular Song is a vibrant jukebox filled with new favorites, beckoning readers to join the dancefloor of the literary, the unexpected, and the joyous.
