- More about Practice as Research in the Arts (and Beyond): Principles, Processes, Contexts, Achievements
This project explores the contexts of Practice as Research and how to undertake it, with an extension of range "beyond" the arts and a case for intra-disciplinarity in Practice Research. It acknowledges the current crisis in legitimation and proposes an onto-epistemology for the twenty-first century foregrounding the bodymind while sustaining rationality and community through Other/other dialogic exchange. Perspectives from around the world in Part II offset the more Eurocentric emphasis in Part I.

This project delves into the realms of Practice as Research, exploring its intricacies and methodologies. In this second iteration, we aim to refine our understanding and practices while maintaining a direct and accessible path toward becoming a practitioner-researcher. We have expanded the scope of Practice Research to encompass a broader range of fields, transcending the traditional boundaries of the arts. Additionally, we advocate for the integration of intra-disciplinarity in Practice Research, recognizing its potential to shape the future of universities.
We draw a comparison between Artistic Research and Practice Research, highlighting their shared emphasis on research through practices involving being, doing, and knowing. We acknowledge the current challenges in the legitimacy of research, proposing an onto-epistemology for the twenty-first century that emphasizes the body-mind while preserving rationality and community through Other/other dialogic exchange.
Part II of this project presents perspectives from around the world, offering a diverse range of viewpoints that offset the more Eurocentric emphasis found in Part I. By embracing a global perspective, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of Practice as Research and its potential to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in various fields.
