The Pyrenean Haute Route (Haute Randonnée Pyrénéenne, or PHR) is a 748km (465-mile) trek that runs along the France-Spain border, catering to fit and experienced trekkers who are comfortable navigating mountainous terrain. This challenging, unmarked route spans the Pyrenees from the Atlantic Coast in Hendaye to Banyuls-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean, with the primary objective of maintaining as high elevation as possible throughout.

The PHR is structured into 44 graded stages, ranging from 8 to 28km (5 to 17 miles), with the majority of them ending at overnight accommodations. These stages are organized into 5 sections, making it accessible to trekkers who wish to explore only a portion of the route.
