Of special note are the delightful illustrations of Erin Camarca that perfectly support this original adaptation to a vintage fairy tale. Thoroughly kid friendly in tone and presentation, Rattlestiltskin is an especially recommended picture book for children ages 4 to 8 and will prove to be an enduringly popular addition to family, preschool, elementary school, and community library collections.
In a far-off desert, there lived a mysterious snake man who was known for his strange abilities. He had the power to make tortillas so light that they could float in the air. One day, a young girl named Rosalia stumbled upon the snake man's secret and begged him to teach her how to make the tortillas. The snake man agreed, but he warned her that there was a catch. If she could not outsmart him, he would take her freedom away.
Rosalia was determined to learn the trick and set out on a journey to outsmart the snake man. She studied his techniques and practiced tirelessly until she was able to make the perfect tortilla. But when she presented it to the snake man, he was not impressed. He challenged her to a game of dice, where the winner would take all.
Rosalia was nervous, but she knew that she had to trust her instincts. She rolled the dice and was surprised to see that she had won. The snake man was defeated, and Rosalia was able to keep her freedom. From that day on, Rosalia became known as the tortilla maker who could outsmart even the trickiest of opponents.
